betst things to do in 2023
"All I want to do is travel and explore." - J.K Rowling
This question has been asked by many authors over the years, but it’s interesting that we still haven’t got an answer as to why this quote was written. The reason it seems so true and applicable is because of its relevance for today. There are plenty of great quotes out there that were said back in the 1960s or early 1970s that have also stayed relevant to our time. Examples include “You can’t teach a man to throw the first pitch. He needs to be born with the ability to catch baseballs.”(Gleaves), and “I prefer cats over dogs.” (Gleaves). People like myself still say these when watching sports games these days. They have not changed much from those times. It was just another way of saying something that seemed ridiculous at the time. Now, how would you feel if someone told you twenty years later they had changed their mind about cats as pets and now say they enjoyed them as companions? Would it make you happy to know this was the case? Let's find out if yes!
The fact is, life is filled with random events that happen every day. Sometimes they don’t matter as much as others, and some things will stay the same forever. But one thing that stays constant is the human race on earth. We have become part of nature’s existence and it affects us to this degree. So when something happens that doesn't change or affect us, we often reflect on what it means. Take everything for example, the weather. Every year and every decade of time, the weather is different. And even though the climate changes each year, this isn't really a big deal. One might argue that it never changes because there is no scientific method to prove that the sky rises and sets without any major change. Yes, it does. Or perhaps one day, that is true. Who knows?
While many people may view the weather as more significant than other issues of the world, it shouldn’t be. For instance, one might say, “the best days of my life are coming soon. I know this because I am doing everything possible to create the perfect circumstances for success.” This person might feel optimistic about making money, but then they can only dream about their future when they are not paying attention to the weather. And, just like all things, there are good days and bad days. However, there are always moments where everything changes for the worse. Like what happened during Hurricane Ida in 2011. A lot of people lost their houses, businesses, cars, etc. What became clear after a few months after that storm was that the weather is unpredictable. Maybe they didn’t anticipate that when these horrible storms would hit. On the flip side, maybe they did see the changes that could change the outcome. Regardless, the truth remains, that there is no guarantee that something good will happen to anyone. That’s right. No one. I know, right? Some of you are old enough to remember the movies starring Mark Twain who once said, “Life is better predicted than it is lived.”(Gleaves) He was correct. You should always expect something good to happen. And while expecting the worst is always a risk, it’s wise to prepare for the worst by having a plan. Planning what you want to have in your own life helps set expectations. If you work toward achieving something in life, there is nothing stopping you from reaching your goals if things aren’t going according to plan. Of course, this may take longer than expected, but that is one of the greatest advantages of a long-term goal. Not only does this help keep you motivated but it also gives you enough flexibility in order to adjust to unexpected changes whenever needed. Longer term goals also allow us to experience both successes and failures. Successful accomplishments give us positive emotions such as joy and excitement and failure can cause fear as well as sadness which will further challenge and motivate us to improve or try again. Even though we may fall short time after time, a few failures will provide the motivation and inspiration to start afresh. When things go wrong, we don’t always lose hope. Instead, we get motivated to move forward and overcome the setbacks that happen along the way. Learning From Our Mistakes Is Key This reminds me of the phrase from Dr. Seuss, “The most important lesson learned from past mistakes is that mistakes are lessons.” Although most people tend to think being sorry or owning up to our mistakes is something we shouldn’t do, sometimes we need it. As humans, we have flaws and imperfections. Everyone is unique, and some more than others. So, when facing obstacles, how do you react? Do you criticize yourself or find a new way to approach things? Perhaps you start analyzing if it was an honest mistake or not. Either way, we must learn from our mistakes in order to grow and evolve. The next time you look back at the negative situations in your life, whether it be a personal crisis from family, work, school, or relationships, ask yourself if there is anything you can do to prevent the problem from happening again. By doing so, you’ll be able to get rid of more problems that occur in the future and keep improving your quality of life in the present. Because as human beings, we are inherently flawed creatures. Humans cannot escape it. Therefore, everyone reacts differently based on their backgrounds or experiences. How you handle criticism can either strengthen it or destroy it. Criticism is a necessary tool. Whether you love it or hate it, you cannot deny that it can get the job done. Besides, your opinion matters because you are the authority on your own life journey and are capable of telling your story in your words alone. Thus, instead of denying the negativity in their lives, be empathetic, and understand what they have gone through. It is up to you to analyze their situation and assess their needs and expectations regarding a productive solution. Your thoughts play a huge role in shaping the rest of your actions. Think outside the box even if it makes you uncomfortable. Remember that you have power over your reactions to life’s challenges. Don't let your fears get ahead of you. Fear destroys. It paralyzes you and prevents you from taking action. Make sure you express your feelings honestly. Get curious and figure out things that are beyond your knowledge and understanding. Feelings are feelings that are real and true. Emotions tell stories about people, situations, things, or ideas. Without feeling, there would be no words or stories to share. Learn from your mistakes and improve by putting yourself back together after an unfortunate event. Try a fresh perspective if nothing else. Reevaluate your thoughts and opinions. Once you accept responsibility for your role in things, you can begin fixing things and growing. Focus On Goals and Achievements rather Than Perfection After realizing we have flaws, it is important to start focusing on goals. First thing’s first, your goals need to be SMART. Meaning specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed. These three things make it easier for you to focus on them while focusing on what you want in life. Second, start setting small milestones. Setting small goals will remind you to remain focused on the task and avoid distractions that arise. Finally, break down large goals into smaller ones that are attainable. Start off with easy steps and build the momentum to reach greater levels. With this mindset, it becomes easier to achieve bigger goals. Set aside time to tackle one daily goal. Also, ensure that the goal is within its original scope and that nothing hinders progress. Never allow a deadline to stop you from completing the task if you have the resources to achieve it. Time management is essential. While making a list of tasks, do you write everything down in priority order? Then why not stick to the schedule? Having a timetable in place will help avoid procrastinating. Before setting a fixed task, consider if it fits your personality. Most people are too ambitious they end up spending hours on a project that is actually unrelated to their business or career. So, if you are self-motivated, it could be a fun idea. Plan your week ahead, plan activities and meetings, and put off unnecessary paperwork and emails. Keep moving forward no matter how long it takes. Avoiding unnecessary stress can lead to frustration and anxiety and can also bring burnout and depression. Life is short, thus stay positive. All things considered, a simple planner will definitely save you time and energy in the long run. Be prepared to commit yourself to a process that may take you a few weeks to complete, but it will take longer for you to realize the benefits. Overall, be prepared to work hard, push yourself, stay committed, and remain consistent in order to succeed. Being persistent pays off. Just remember that success lies in overcoming adversity and perseverance. Always keep learning. Growing pains are inevitable but learning from them helps prevent them from getting worse in the future. Practice patience. Patience is key to winning over obstacles and accomplishing your goals. Work smart not harder. Invest your time wisely and efficiently by focusing only on projects that interest you and are personally useful. Taking risks is vital to becoming successful. Routine will keep you safe. Many obstacles can come our way. Facing them head-on will not only keep you motivated, but also open more doors for opportunities for growth. Don't compromise your desire to be healthy. It's essential to your mental health. You should take care of your body and mind and take good care of yourself. Drink water and stay hydrated regularly. Sleep is important for overall health and wellbeing. Getting adequate
